Floral Hat Festival

The making of felt hoods as the basis of hatmaking was a major source of employment in Frampton Cotterell and neighbouring villages until it fell into decline following industrialisation.  To celebrate this heritage, Floral Friends together with the Zion Church organised a Floral Hat Festival and invited local residents and organisations to take part.

The slideshow shows some of the artistic creations which were on display.

Many residents got into the spirit of things and came along wearing their own floral hat.

The Local History Society also came along with a number of artifacts and gave an interesting talk on the hat making industry and its importance to the local area.

Thanks also to local musicians and singers for the musical entertainment provided during the day.
